chairman's report '07 contacts fixtures
Fawley RFC Juniors will make the best use of the facilities at the Waterside Sports and Social Club where emerging Rugby Union players from the ages of 6 through to 19 can be well coached and can play matches regularly throughout the playing seasons. In doing so, we can expect rugby players in our local area and attending our schools, to consider Fawley RFC Juniors as their first choice Rugby Club.

The consequences of a successful Junior Section at Fawley RFC will promote our favourite sport, Rugby Union, providing all the benefits that the players obtain from this disciplined and exciting game. We can provide the schools in the Waterside Area and New Forest East an experienced playing core. We will automatically provide young players ready to play senior Rugby, and hope that they can stay and play locally and support Fawley RFC.

Fawley RFC Junior Chairman May 2006

Our Ideals
We aim to promote the ideals of team spirit and fair play within a relatively competitive environment. Although it is nice to win every game, our commitment at Fawley RFC remains to ensure that all of our players have fund whilst playing one of the top national sports.

Coaching Standards
Our coaches have attained the appropriate levels of Tag or Level 1 coaching skills qualification, are first aid trained and we have committee members that have attended the Good Practice and Child Protection course.

Rugby Kit
It is very important that players wear appropriate clothing and equipment to play sports, rugby is no exception. The Fawley RFC shirt colour is red with dark navy blue shorts and red socks. Tracksuits, grip mitts and hats are ideal when the weather is cold or wet. A pair of rugby or football boots should have rubber moulded studs or screw in aluminium studs. The club encourages the recycling of boots, therefore please consider donating your old boots and swapping – so check with the coaches before you buy any.

Head guards and body protectors are becoming very popular and mouth guards are essential. The club will provide match shirts for each match, they are returned to the coaches to be laundered ready for the next match. If you want to purchase your own Fawley RFC shirt through the kit club please speak to Warren Engle.

Membership and Subs for Fawley RFC Junior Section

For the new season, your first Junior Rugby Player can continue to pay an annual subscription of £65 (potential saving of £30 over paying weekly) and for your next Junior Rugby Players a discounted annual subscription of £55 (a saving of £40).

Please note – if preferred, post dated cheques are accepted over the first three months.

For those that choose to pay weekly, the weekly subs are still £3, additionally there is a ‘one off’ Fawley RFC Junior membership of £3.

Free taster session – this is for any new player trying us out for the first time. They will still need to register on the day so that they are covered under our RFU insurance scheme.

WSSC Membership – Waterside Sports & Social Club

All players should also obtain membership to the WSSC, our ‘over seeing’ Sports and Social club. We will handout forms at registration day.

Facilities
Our home is at the Waterside Sports and Social Club (WSSC) in Holbury (Formerly the Esso Social Club) where we have good relations with the staff and the other sports clubs and the children can even enjoy their training and home matches within a fully enclosed and safe environment. Why not join the Social Club as full family members? You could take up bowls, tennis, martial arts, dancing or one of the many other activities available at the club.

Strong Links with the Community
We have good relationships with local schools and look to reinforce our links with them whenever we can notwithstanding the initiatives of the New Forest Rugby Development Group. We are always looking for local companies to support the club
with sponsorship and direct help relying upon these links to help provide kit and equipment for the teams. We thank ExxonMobil, Terry Chant of Silverline, Chris Hoar the Tree Surgeons and Paul Hogben of Bradnall for their support and generous sponsorship.

Encouragement
We know that we rely on the goodwill of parents and the local community to run a successful club and therefore we are continually actively seeking new people to join us. We would greatly appreciate support from parents on the field with training or supporting in the running of the club and the encouragement of parents to allow their children to play as well as spreading the word to other potential players. Note we have ‘young lady’ players too that play alongside, against and beat the boys! When they become U13’s we look to put the more serious players with a joint New Forest Cluster squad.
